The best ‘school of thought’ will tell you that it’s good to draw up a ‘To Do’ list at the beginning of each working day and work through the list crossing off each task as it is completed.
This is most certainly the best way to get jobs done methodically and does ensure that nothing is missed. It’s also extremely satisfying to put a line through a task once it’s completed.
This also keeps us in control of what needs doing and can cut down on the amount of fire fighting tasks we so often get caught up in, such as answering the phone or dealing with questions from colleagues.
However, here at Message Takers we do have to work a little differently and our way of working does break those efficiency rules. This is because we take on those fire fighting task that would otherwise be tying up your time.
Our ethos is to answer the call and handle the enquiry, send any details to you and close the call. When the next call comes in, we answer that call, deal with the enquiry, send the details then close the call. There are no ‘To Do’ lists, we handle what comes in when it comes in as quickly as possible.
